The ubiquitous copper catalysedtriazole formation – known commonly as the click reaction finds many uses in modern day chemistry. In this presentation catalytic triazole formation is used in two different domains, divided into sensing and asymmetric catalysis parts, linked by the triazole formation theme.

Sensors for saccharides and glycoproteins are constructed using so-called click chemistry. Our newest developments and key recent achievements in transferring this technology towards diagnostic devices is described.Triazole formation using chiral catalysis is a relatively under explored area within so-called click-chemistry and in this presentation kinetic resolution using chiral copper complexes to deliver enantioenrichedtriazole products and unreacted alkynes in good conversions and enantiomeric excesses is revealed. The two themes will be drawn together by discussion of our most recent research work.


主讲人概况:


John S. Fossey博士2000年毕业于英国威尔士卡迪夫大学(Cardiff University of Wales),2004年在伦敦大学玛丽皇后学院(Queen Mary University of London)获得博士学位。2004-2005年获得JSPS资助在日本东京大学(The University of Tokyo)Kobayashi教授课题组进行博士后研究。2005-2008年在英国巴斯大学(The University of Bath)从事教学工作,并作为共同PI开展科研工作。2009年John S. Fossey博士加入英国伯明翰大学(University of Birmingham),作为独立PI开展研究工作,2014年获得终身职位。到目前为止,共获得超过160万英镑的科研经费的资助。在J. Am. Chem. Soc.,Angew. Chem. Int. Ed.等著名学术期刊上发表研究论文90余篇,H指数为31。

John S. Fossey博士作为英国皇家学会工业研究员(Royal Society Industry Fellow)、国际化学代表(International Representative for Chemistry)与中国有广泛的合作关系,是中山大学客座教授、华东理工大学的客座教授、河南师范大学的访问教授。
